Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenAt the age of 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at which point he graduated in 1995. In addition to his performance as the lead actor of The Killing, he also appeared in two other internationally well-known Danish drama series: Those Who Kill, and Borgen III. He also appeared in episodes of BBC drama Sherlock as Charles Augustus Magnussen (blackmailer). In the American television show House of Cards, he was the role of President Russia. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in Danish television drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm. In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English, and he has mastered different accents. According to Mikkelsen the story, he and his brother learned English by studying Monty Python records.
