Leona Louise (born on the 3rd April in 1986) is a British singer-songwriter, actress as well as activist and performer. Born and raised in Islington, a part of the London Borough of Islington, she attended her school at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis gained not only national recognition when she took home The X Factor's third series in the year 2006. She also received an PS1 Million recording contract from Syco Music. The Kelly Clarkson cover"A Moment Like This" was the winner. The song racked up 50,000 digital downloads in less than thirty minutes, and peaked at the top of the charts for 4 weeks. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5 album deal in February 2007. Lewis's successes continued when she dropped her debut album, Spirit (2007). It received platinum certification in the UK as the fourth highest-grossing album in the 2000s. Spirit According to Official Charts Company is the highest-seller debut album by a female singer. "Bleeding Love" was the first single from Spirit, remained Number One for the UK for seven weeks. The single was also the UK's best-selling single. In the US, it was the highest-selling single of 2008 , and Lewis was named the Best New Artist by Billboard the same year. In 2009 she released her second studio album, Echo and also recorded the theme song, "I See You" to be used in the film Avatar. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" which was a collaboration alongside Swedish DJ Avicii, and her debut extended play, Hurt: The EP. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), marked a new creative direction for Lewis and her music, drawing inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. Her Glassheart Tour was in the mid-year of 2013, and she began recording music to create her first Christmas album. In the following year, Christmas with Love with Love, featuring the single that was released as the album's lead track "One more time" came in at number three across the UK. This chart position made Lewis her the only British independent female musician in the top fivespot, with eight singles. Also, she surpasses Olivia Newton John's record of seven.
